About Dr. Steve Grcevich
Dr. Stephen Grcevich (MD, Northeast Ohio Medical University) serves as the founder and President of Key Ministry, a non-profit organization established to help churches welcome families impacted by disabilities, with a special emphasis on “hidden disabilities.” He is a child and adolescent psychiatrist who serves as Key’s primary vision caster and advances the organization’s collaborations with church leaders, like-minded ministries and the professional community. His book, Mental Health and the Church (Zondervan, 2018) presents churches a comprehensive mental health outreach and inclusion model.
Dr. Grcevich serves as Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Northeast Ohio Medical University. He is an experienced clinician, teacher, and researcher, and has been a presenter at 35+ national and international medical conferences. He was an invitee to the 2019 White House Mental Health Summit and a past recipient of the Exemplary Psychiatrist Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

Who’s Missing? Reversing the Impact of Mental Illness on Church Attendance
Individuals and families impacted by mental illness are enormously underrepresented in the pews at church on any given Sunday. In this presentation, Dr. Grcevich will review available data examining the impact of common mental conditions on church attendance, identify obstacles to church attendance in the context of church culture and introduce some simple strategies churches might employ for welcoming and including individuals and families impacted by mental illness.
