I’m Still Standing

So many times with depression we feel knocked down and defeated. We get so tired and all we want to do is just lay down. Putting on a happy face every day and making sure no one knows how you really feel on the inside is exhausting. It makes you mentally and physically tired. Not only do you have to go through the motions of faking it, but you have to push through your own mind as well.   But that is not what God wants us to do.  It is what satan wants us to do.

It is so difficult in the middle of our times of depression to stay focused and remember God wants us to stand.  He is the one who helps us stand.

In Ephesians 6, Paul says,

11) clothe yourselves with the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.

13 for this reason, take up the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand your ground on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand.

14  Stand firm therefore, by fastening the belt of truth around your waist, by putting on the breastplate of righteousness.

I encourage you to keep standing.

How I Went From Surviving to Thriving: 3 Simple Steps By: Samantha Karraa

I am living a full and rich life in spite of my
disorder. My relationships are better than they have ever been. A new love has covered my marriage. I’m being able to take care of and enjoy my parents and my children. I have new friends. New goals and dreams. I have taken on new projects. I am serving the Lord with gladness in my job and ministries at church.
Don’t get me wrong- I still have bad days. There are still days when it is hard to get up
and get moving. But even on bad days my hope tank is full. I manage my illness and it does not define me. I am thriving.
How did I get from surviving to thriving? To me, it happened in 3 simple but powerful steps.

My Mind is a Fixer Upper & Still Under Renovation By: Katie Dale

I think of how seldom a conversation with another church member, heck even my own family members, goes beyond the stuff of our plans for the week or our opinions on other people’s choices or our usual complaints and surface conversations. I’d like to know what it’s like to be a true friend to someone else. I can’t keep this front up forever. It’s like applying some white-washed photo filter that lets the light look just perfect and yet there are deeper issues – like inefficient heating and cooling or clogged pipes.
