Do It Again

This is a wonderful song by Elevation Worship.  When anxiety or depression sticks it ugly head out, I cling to this song.  It reminds me that God has taken care of me before, He will never leave me, and He’ll get me through it again.  Sometimes we need reminders in different ways to tell us what we already know.  Music is one of my coping mechanisms.  When singing this song, it’s telling myself that He got me through this before, and He will do it again.

Deuteronomy 31:6 it says “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

How Do You Manage Anxiety When You Are Depressed?

Before I was treated for bipolar depression I also developed an anxiety disorder. For example, I found it difficult to eat in public. When we had church functions my stomach would knot up and my hands would shake from apprehension. As a pastor, I was able to walk around doing informal greetings with members. Walking and having short visits allowed me to contain my anxiety. By the time the event was over I hadn’t eaten anything and was exhausted.
