About lynford h smith
Dr. Lynford Smith (Lyn) is an Actively Retired Elder in the Free Methodist Church USA. Presently, he does ministry serving on a Leader Care Team which comes along side of Pastors and Families of the East Michigan Conference with support in personal, family and church leadership needs.
He is a layperson at the Williamston Free Methodist Church located in Williamston Michigan. He serves using his gifts wherever needed in the local church. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with the State of Michigan.
He is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. He has done individual and group counseling. Most recently has founded and led grief groups for grieving people in the community needing a safe place to understand and find healing as they work through their grief. The result has given fresh hope to individuals who did not understand their grief and the many obstacles to finding a new normal for their lives.
Lyn graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Master of Pastoral Counseling. He furthered his education graduating from Trinity School of the Bible and Seminary where he earned a PhD in Leadership. He was a pastor in the Church of the Nazarene.
He worked and retired (23 years) from the U.S. Postal Service as an Employee and Workplace Intervention Analyst (internal consultant). He was a Professor in Adult and Continuing Studies in the Management and Organization Development (MOD) and Master’s in Counseling programs for Spring Arbor University (25 Years) and MOD for Cornerstone University (4 Years).
Lyn’s mission in life is to use the gifts God has given to Love Him, Love People and Help others come to know the living God.

Good Grief
In this session participants will be learning the positive impact of grief using the 23rd Psalm to understand how God walks with them from their new birth experience all the way into eternity. Participants will come to understand the importance of having a trusting relationship with God.
Participants will understand how God supports them through critical incidents in life. Hope is discovered in this scripture building strength and courage to work through the grief process.
